Being Queer

No person is an island.

There is no way to exist in our society without operating within a cultural framework or social institution.

Like gender, even being queer is a socially influenced, constructed, and debated aspect of society.

As Adrienne Rich once said:
“Until we know the assumptions in which we are drenched, 
we cannot know ourselves.”
